BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne University women's basketball team picked up an 83-67 victory over Sul Ross State University Saturday afternoon in the Brownwood Coliseum.
Howard Payne forced 18 Sul Ross turnovers and out rebounded the Lobos 58-41 in the game.Â
With the Lady Jackets leading 41-28 at the half, Howard Payne would outscore Sul Ross 42-39 in the second half to claim the 83-67 win.
Amanda Turpin led the Lady Jackets with 16 points connecting on four three-pointers.
Chelsey Harris had 14 points with seven rebounds.
Salina Ali had the best overall game with 12 points, seven rebounds, five assists and five steals.
Lily Janek had 10 points and
Kayla Brigance added nine points and eight rebounds.
Delaney Ingram finished with four block shots.
Sul Ross was led by Teresa Quintana and Jocelyne Roque with 17 points each. Vania Hampton grabbed 13 rebounds.
The Lady Jackets will be on the road next week at Concordia Texas on Thursday at 5:30 pm and on Saturday at Mary Hardin-Baylor at 1:00 pm.
