BROWNWOOD, Texas- The Howard Payne University volleyball team lost two games to McMurry University 3-0 and 3-0 on Tuesday evening in the Brownwood Coliseum.
Maya Ross highlighted the evening for the Lady Jackets, recording 23 kills and seven blocks for the double-header.
Game one
The Lady Jackets dropped three straight sets to the War Hawks by scores of 25-14, 25-13, and 25-17.
Maya Ross had a game-high five blocks for Howard Payne and also added 10 kills.
Riley Britain had 18 assists for the Lady Jackets and
Chloe Pryor added 15 digs.
Tyler Richardson had 10 kills for McMurry, Myranda Salcedo had 20 assists, and Adile Leal had 17 digs.
Game two
Howard Payne got off to a rocky start dropping the first set 25-19. The Lady Jackets found their rhythm in the second set, going back and forth with the War Hawks. HPU ultimately lost the set 27-25.
The Lady Jacket drops the final set 25-19 to lose the match 3-0.
Maya Ross had a game-high 13 kills for the Lady Jackets. Riley Brittain had a game-high 22 assists, and
Chloe Pryor had 15 digs.
Kianni Mitchell and Madison Cuellar had nine kills each for McMurry. Aubrie Sibley had 19 assists for the War Hawks. Adile Leal and Kaylie Vasil had 15 digs each.
Howard Payne falls to 3-15 on the season and 0-14 in conference play. McMurry improves to 10-2 overall and 10-2 in conference play.
The Lady Jackets will play Hardin Simmons in a double-header on Tuesday, March 23rd, starting at 5 pm.
