HPU Battles #15 UMHB

BROWNWOOD, Texas – Howard Payne University's Amanda Turpin recorded a game and season high 20 points in an 80-62 loss to nationally ranked University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Thursday evening in the Brownwood Coliseum.

After leading 18-15 at the end of the first quarter, UMHB held HPU to 28.6% shooting in the second period to gain a 36-29 halftime advantage.

It was a 26-point third quarter for UMHB that created distance for the Cru in the game. UMHB would go on to outrebound HPU 41-35 and gain 11 more free-throw attempts in the game than the Lady Jackets.

HPU's Amanda Turpin recorded a game and season high 20 points in the loss to #15/RV Mary Hardin-Baylor.

Bria Neal had nine points for the Lady Jackets, Salina Ali had eight points and four assists. Lily Janek added eight points.

UMHB was led by Ashley Faux with 20 points and eight rebounds. Kaitlyn Kollmorgan followed with 10 points.

Howard Payne is now 4-28 overall and 2-15 in American Southwest Conference action. UMHB is 19-2 overall and 16-0 in league play. The Lady Jackets will play their final home basketball game of the season this Saturday at 1:00 pm versus Concordia University Texas. The HPU seniors will be recognized after the game.
