BROWNWOOD, Texas – Howard Payne University's
Bria Neal led all scorers in an 80-66 conference loss for the Lady Jackets to Concordia University Texas Saturday afternoon.
Down by as many as 21 points at the start of the fourth quarter, the Lady Jackets stormed back to pull within six, 71-65 with 3:40 left in the game.
Despite outscoring Concordia 25-21 in the fourth quarter, the Lady Jackets late game rally fell short in the 80-66 final.
HPU's
Bria Neal recorded a game-high 22 points along with five steals versus Concordia in the 80-66 loss.
HPU did force 20 CTX turnovers while only committing 10 themselves but loss the rebounding battle 49-30 in the game.
Amanda Turpin followed Neal with 15 points and senior
Salina Ali added 10 points and game high five assists. Senior
Lily Janek recorded four assists in the game.
Concordia was led by Havyn Perez with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Mikayla Johnson added 15 points.
Howard Payne is now 4-19 overall and 2-16 in American Southwest Conference action. Concordia stands at 8-15 overall and 6-12 in league play. The Lady Jackets will finish out the season on the road in Abilene, Texas, Thursday at McMurry University and Saturday at Hardin-Simmons.
