BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne University baseball team fell 12-2 in its series finale with the University of the Ozarks but took the conference series 2-1 this weekend at Don Shepard Park.
Despite falling in game three of the series, the Yellow Jackets took the series 2-1 after double-header wins (12-4 and 19-4) on Friday.
Down 7-0 going into the bottom of the sixth, the Jackets got on the scoreboard on a homerun by
Rylee McGee, his second of the series and third of the season.
In the seventh, the Jackets scored on a throwing error by the shortstop to bring home
Kelby Coburn.
Getting outhit 15-10, Howard Payne committed three errors and walked nine total Eagle batters in the game.
HPU's Tylee McGee finished 2-for-3 at the plate and
Samuel Lampson was 2-for-4 on the day.
William Burford,
Carson Wert, and McGee all hit doubles for the Jackets in the game.
Chandler Paul recorded the loss in the start for HPU allowing four runs on six hits in 2.2 innings of action.

D'Andrey Silva,
Harlee Biggs,
Nicholas Richards, and
Bryant Chambers each saw time in relief for the Jackets.
HPU is now 8-18 overall and 4-14 in American Southwest Conference play. Ozarks stands at 7-18 overall and 7-11 in league action. The Jackets will play next on Tuesday, April 4th at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas at 6:00 pm.
