Howard Payne
Last weekend, Howard Payne won its season opener for the third straight year, a 17-3 battle at George Fox University in Newberg, OR.

The Yellow Jackets used two goal-line stands to keep the Bruins out of the endzone while holding them to just 17 yards rushing in the game.

HPU safety Peyton Lowe led the Yellow Jacket defensive unit with eight tackles and a forced fumble. He was named the ASC Defensive Player of the Week for week one.

Despite posting 466 yards of total offense (94 rushing, 372 passing), the HPU offense will look to get going this week after going 3 for 7 in the red-zone in week one.

It has been six years since the two programs have faced each other (2017), SAGU won that meeting 63-34 in Waxahachie.

SW Assemblies of God
After a 7-3 campaign in 2022, the Lions look to replace NAIA All-Americans Keaton Dudik (RB) and Keandre Belcher (DT).

With 28 freshmen and 22 redshirt freshmen, SW Assemblies will be relatively young. The Lions return just six of their 18 All-conference players from last season.

Briley Green is the projected starting QB for the Lions. Green played in 11 games last season throwing for 2,122 yards with 17 TDs and 17 interceptions.
