Howard Payne was represented by Hope Hermesmeyer and Emilee Garcia at the Teravista Golf Club, For the Linda Lowery Invitational with both players grinding through two rounds of competition on a challenging layout.
Hope Hermesmeyer led the way for the Yellow Jackets, finishing with a 36-hole total of 179 (+35). She opened with an 89 (+17), turning in a strong 41 on the front nine that included a birdie on the opening hole. Across her first round, Hermesmeyer totaled one birdie and multiple pars while navigating the course's tougher stretches. In round two, she carded a 90 (+18), improving slightly on the back nine with a 46. Over the two rounds, Hermesmeyer posted consistent scoring splits with an 82 on the front nine and a 94 on the back, highlighting her ability to start rounds strong and stay competitive throughout.Â
Emilee Garcia followed with a two-round total of 195 (+51), opening with a 95 (+23) before finishing with a 100 (+28). In her first round, Garcia recorded a 50 on the front nine and bounced back with a 45 on the back, showing resilience after a tough start. Her round was highlighted by a birdie on the par-5 10th, one of her cleanest holes of the day. In round two, Garcia posted a 49 on the front and a 51 on the back, continuing to battle through each hole. Across both rounds, she totaled multiple pars and showed flashes of strong play, particularly on the back nine in round one where she found a rhythm.
Between the two, Hermesmeyer's steady pace and early-round success set the tone, while Garcia's persistence and ability to respond on the back nine provided a complementary effort for Howard Payne.
Head coach Morgan Lucas praised the effort and growth from both players following the tournament.
"We're continuing to see progress from both Hope and Emilee," said Lucas. "Hope set the tone with steady play, and Emilee showed great resilience throughout the tournament. There's a lot to build on from this week, and I'm excited about where they're headed."
