BROWNWOOD, Texas – The Howard Payne women's basketball team improved to 9-6 in conference play with a 75-64 victory over the University of the Ozarks Thursday evening.

Howard Payne dominated the boards in the first half 26-15 but 37% shooting by the Lady Jackets and six three-pointers by Ozarks kept the game close. HPU would lead 34-32 at the break.

The Lady Jackets buckled down defensively to expand their lead in the second half holding Ozarks to 30% shooting.

Leading 56-52 with five minutes remaining, Howard Payne put together a 10-0 run to make the game out of reach for Ozarks. Howard Payne went on to post the 75-64 conference victory.

Howard Payne connected on 4 of 8 three point shots and forced 11 turnovers in the second half. The Lady Jackets outrebounded the Eagles 49-35 in the game.

Danyel Bradley scored 15 of her game high 21 points in the second half. Bradley was 10 of 12 from the free-throw line and had 10 rebounds and five steals.

Sarah Van Remmen also had a double double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Yessenia Cazares had 13 points and four steals. Dominique Featherstone added 10 points and eight rebounds.

Ashley Hipps led Ozarks with 16 points. Madison Sherrer had 14 points and Bryanna Moltz followed with 13 points.

Howard Payne is now 12-8 overall and 9-6 in American Southwest Conference action. Ozarks is now 10-11 overall and 6-10 in conference. The Lady Jackets play next on Saturday at home versus nationally ranked University of Texas at Tyler starting at 1:00 pm.
