BROWNWOOD, Texas – The Howard Payne University women's basketball team outscored Louisiana College by fifteen in the closing minutes to claim a 67-57 conference victory Monday evening.

The Lady Jackets outscored the Wildcats 21-6 to close out the game and secure the 67-57 conference victory. Forcing 19 turnovers in the game, the Jackets capitalized with 31 points off the LC turnovers.

The Lady Jackets committed 14 turnovers in the first half and shot just 34% from the floor to trail 28-27 at the half.

HPU got great play from Alexandria Davis and Jada Evans in the second half helping to extend a Lady Jacket lead to 63-53 with just under two minutes to play in the game.

Davis had eight rebounds in the second half and Evans finished with 17 (5-of-8 shooting) second half points in 17 minutes of action.

Following Evans with her team high 17 points was Danyel Bradley with 16 points and a team high 11 rebounds and game high eight assists. Alexandria Davis had 11 rebounds and Ashley Caldwell had a game high six blocks. Yessenia Cazares added 10 points off the bench for the Lady Jackets.

LC was led by Kortney King with 20 points, 20 rebounds and five steals. Rydeja McQuarn had 12 points and Brooke Jones added 10 points.

Howard Payne is now 11-8 overall and 6-3 in American Southwest Conference play. Louisiana College stands at 6-9 overall and 4-4 in league action. The Lady Jackets will play next at Sul Ross State University on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
