BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne University baseball team split a non-conference double header with Arlington Baptist College 2-0 and 2-6 Tuesday afternoon at Don Shepard Park.
In game one, five Yellow Jacket pitchers combined allowing just one hit in the seven inning game.
Xavier Haines recorded the win (2-1) in relief going 2.2 innings and striking out two.
Zach Moseley threw the final frame striking out two for his 11th save of the season.
Kyle Ramon went 3.0 innings in the start for HPU fanning two.
Ethan Cerna faced one batter before Haines entered the game.
Kory Owen saw .1 inning of work before Moseley came in to finish the game.

The Jackets would hold a 2-1 advantage after the first inning of game two but Arlington Baptist held Howard Payne scoreless the rest of the way out in the 6-2 game two final.
Howard Payne scored both of their runs in the bottom of the first when Jacob Salazar singled to left field scoring
Chris Byrd and Cliff Lunceford.
Despite only recording seven hits as a team in the game, HPU made a late push in the seventh but ended the game stranding two runners.
Chris Byrd led the Jackets going 2-for-3 at the plate and Jacob Salazar added 2 RBIs.
HPU used six pitchers in the game with
Seth Owen (2-1) recording the loss in the start. Owen allowed two runs on two hits and struck out three.
Wesley Smith went 1.1 innings allowing two runs on two hits.
Nathan Weyrauch in 1.2 innings of action allowed two runs on four hts and struck out two.
Seth Brody faced one batter before
Joshua O'Conner finished out the game.
Howard Payne is now 18-14 overall and Arlington Baptist stands at 13-28 on the year. Howard Payne will have its regular season home finale on April 21-22 versus conference opponent East Texas Baptist. On Saturday, it will be Senor Day as well as Military Appreciation Day.Â
