Belton, Texas- The Howard Payne Lady Jacket's Volleyball team fell short in two conference matches versus the University of Texas at Dallas and Belhaven University on Saturday, Sept. 22nd.
HPU fought hard in the match with UTD, but came up the same distance in all three sets losing 3-0 (25-17, 25-17, 25-17).
Zhartaezia Bradley led the match with 9 kills tied by Kailey Doering's 9. McKenna Walker added 24 assists while Kailey also tallied 8 digs.
Belhaven came out strong against the Lady Jackets and took all three sets in a very similar fashion as UTD with the Blazers winning 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-17).
Kailey Doering led the way this match with 13 kills followed closely by Zhartaezia Bradley's 10. Zhartaezia added 3 blocks, McKenna Walker had 23 assists, and Kylee Shirley chimed in with 9 digs.
Howard Payne dropped to 2-9 on the season and 1-5 in conference play.
The Lady Jackets will be back on the court Tuesday, Sept. 25th, in Sherman, Texas for the Austin College Tri-Match Tournament. They will play two matches starting with Division II Ouachita Baptist University at 5:00pm, then HPU will take on Austin College at 7:00pm.
