BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne University men's basketball team fell 82-72 to the University of Texas at Dallas Saturday afternoon in the Brownwood Coliseum.

Jaylan Ballou led the HPU attack with 10 points, 11 rebounds, six assists and three steals. Reese Ridder had a team high 15 points with nine rebounds off the bench for the Jackets. James Helzer added 11 points and Tyrell Thompson followed with 10 points.

After finding themselves down early, the Yellow Jackets battled back closing out the first half with a run to trail 40-39 at the break.

UTD extended its lead back to double digits in the second half and held on for the 82-72 final. The HPU defense kept the Jackets in the game holding UT Dallas to 4 of 21 shooting from behind the arc. 

The Comets were led by Dimitrius Underwood's triple double of 18 points, 10 assists, and 12 rebounds followed by Michael Foster with 13 points.

Howard Payne stands at 0-5 overall and 0-2 in American Southwest Conference play. UTD is 2-0 overall and 1-0 in league action. The Yellow Jackets will play next on Jan. 7th at Louisiana College in Pineville, LA. It will be a 7:30 pm start time.
