ALPINE, Texas - The Howard Payne University men's basketball team was led by
Michael House with a game high 19 points in a 87-60 conference loss at Sul Ross State University Thursday evening.
HPU's
Michael House was 8 of 16 from the field and grabbed six rebounds. House was followed by
Jaylan Ballou with 13 points and four assists.
Tyrell Thompson added nine points and a game high 12 rebounds.
Trailing 42-30 at the break, the Yellow Jackets cut the Lobo lead to eight points early in the second half. Then, the Lobos would extended their lead 30 points with 10 minutes remaining.
Neither team shot the ball well in the game but it was the Lobos out rebounding the Jackets 55-44 and 19 turnovers by HPU that played a major role in the outcome.
Sul Ross was led by Tristen Licon with 18 points and eight rebounds.
The Jackets will finish out the season on the road next week with a game at Concordia Texas on Thursday starting at 7:30 pm and at Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday for a 3:00 pm.
