Diamond Sports at Home

Jackets busy across the sports world this weekend

The weekend calendar is doing its best impression of a packed stadium concourse as Howard Payne University gears up for a full slate of action at home and across the state.

Baseball opens the weekend under the Brownwood sky with a Friday doubleheader against Lyon College at 3 pm and 6 pm. The Yellow Jackets enter the series at 4-4, looking to build momentum early in the season and protect their home diamond. The series wraps up Saturday at 1 pm as Howard Payne closes out the three game set with Lyon.

Saturday morning shifts the spotlight to softball, as the Lady Jackets host Dallas Christian College for a doubleheader at 11 am and 1 pm. Sitting at 2-6, Howard Payne will look to find rhythm and consistency in front of the home crowd. The twin bill gives the Jackets a chance to stack innings and set the tone for the weeks ahead.

While the diamonds stay busy in Brownwood, several Yellow Jacket teams will log miles on Texas highways.

Men's and women's tennis travel Friday to face Texas Wesleyan University before taking on LeTourneau University and The University of Dallas for a doubleheader on  Saturday, Feb. 21. The back to back road tests will challenge both squads as they look to sharpen their match play early in the spring schedule.

Men's and women's golf head to Irving for the UD Crusader Cup, hosted at Hackberry Creek Country Club from Feb. 22-24 to open up the spring schedule. The multi day event will give the Jackets an opportunity to measure themselves against a competitive field on a demanding course layout.

Mens and Womens basketball travel to The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor for a pivotal conference showdown with post-season implications on the line on Saturday.

Beach volleyball rounds out the road slate with both their opening season, and program matches Friday, Feb. 20 and Saturday, Feb. 21 against the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton. The trip provides another early season test as the program continues to grow and build depth. History in the making for the inaugural Beach Volleyball season.

From doubleheaders in Brownwood to tournaments and dual matches across the state, it shapes up to be a weekend filled with opportunities for the Yellow Jackets to compete, connect, and continue building momentum across every program.
