NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas – Landry Combs and Madison LaDart swept the season-opening American Southwest Conference Player of the Week awards after a 3-0 week from the Howard Payne University women's soccer team.
LaDart, a sophomore midfielder from Midlothian, Texas, earned the title of Offensive Player of the Week after logging four points in three matches. The sophomore recorded two assists in the team's 4-0 win over Austin College on September 1. LaDart continued to impress the rest of the week, winning a free kick at LeTourneau to set up Kenzie Cameron's game-winning goal on September 3 and scoring her first collegiate goal during a hometown trip to University of Dallas on September 5.
Combs, a graduate goalkeeper from Midlothian, Texas, was named Defensive Player of the Week honors for her work between the posts during the opening week of the season. Combs made six saves on six shots on goal to command the Lady Jackets' backline and keep opponents scoreless through her 135 minutes of action.
