2014: Young finished third in the ASC in total yards passing (2,847) and in yards per game (284.7). He led an offense versus East Texas Baptist that total 720 yards of offense, a new school record, in the win. He was again honored as an Honorable Mention All-Conference selection and was twice named ASC player of the week.

2013: Played in nine games for the Jackets racking up 2509 yards passing and 23 TDs. He led the American Southwest Conference in passing with 278.8 per game and had a 136.57 passing efficiency rating, good for 2nd in the ASC. Richard also led the ASC in total offense averaging 295.6 yards per game.  He also had 50 rushes for 292 yards and three TDs. He was named Honorable Mention All-Conference as a quarterback.

2012: Medical Redshirt

HS: Richard is a 2012 graduate of Gunter High School in Gunter, Texas where he lettered 4 years in basketball, 3 years in football and 3 years in baseball.  As a member of the Tigers football team, he helped take the team to the State 2-A football playoffs from 2009-2011 earning 2 District Championships in 2010 & 2011. Also, he helped lead the baseball and basketball teams to the play-offs appearances from 2010-2012. He earned All-District as a quarterback in 2010, 1st Team All-District in 2010 on the basketball court, was named the 2011 offensive football MVP and basketball MVP and 2012 defensive MVP in football.

Personal: Richard is from Gunter, Texas.  He is the son of Yvonne Garner and Woody Young.  He has one older sister.  At this time, his major is undeclared.
