2023: Appearing in 12 games for HPU, Garcia totaled four hits, two runs, and one RBI. As a fielder, he recorded 47 catches, 37 putouts, and nine assists. Garcia was an Academic All-Conference selection as well.
2022: Appearing in 11 games for HPU, Garcia recorded three hits, three runs, and three RBI. As a fielder, he notched 48 catches and 43 putouts.
2021: Appearing in four games for the Yellow Jackets, Matthew recorded one hit in seven at-bats with two RBI. As a fielder, he registered 10 catches and eight putouts.
2020: Saw action in three games, recording one at bat. As a fielder, he tallied nine catches and eight putouts.
High School: Matthew played two years of varsity baseball for Lubbock High School in Lubbock, Texas. During his high school career, Matthew was a team captain, a Westerner Male Athlete of the Year Nominee, two year recipient of the Lubbock High Spirit Award for Leadership and Sportsmanship, was an honors graduate, and was selected to the varsity baseball all-tournament team. He also played football.
Personal: Matthew is majoring in Secondary Education with ambitions of becoming a high school coach. His parents are Emilio and Andrea Garcia and has two siblings.
