2023: A Second Team All-Conference selection, Villarreal Started in 35 games this season. He recorded 41 hits, 21 RBI, 10 doubles, and scored 30 runs. He had a season-high at Sul Ross State University with four hits, three doubles, four runs, and three RBI. Villarreal was an Academic All-Conference selection as well.

2022:Starting in 38 games for the Yellow Jackets, Villarreal finished third on the team in batting average with .318. He totaled 48 hits, 23 runs, and 17 RBI and had a team-best 12 stolen bases. As a fielder, Villarreal notched 156 catches, 49 putouts, and 98 assists. He was an Academic All-Conference selection as well.

2021: Starting in 32 of 33 games played for the Yellow Jackets, Joey had an average of .324 at the plate. He led the team in hits with 36 and triples with 3. He scored 21 runs, had eight doubles, and 17 RBI. 

2020: In a shorten season, Joey started in 16 of 18 games played in for the Yellow Jackets leading the team with a .377 average at the plate. With three doubles and one triple, Joey drove in eight runs and was 3-for-3 in stolen base attempts. He totaled 23 hits in 61 at bats.

College: Joey is a transfer from Wharton County Junior College in Wharton, Texas.

High School: Joey played two years of varsity for Clear Falls High School in League City, Texas. He was awarded two time Defensive Player of the Year, distinguished knight award, second team All-District, and All-County Honorable Mention. Joey also played football.

Personal: Joey is majoring in Accounting with aspirations of pursuing a career in sales. His parents are Luis and Lori Villarreal and has one sibling.
