TEMPLE, Texas - The Howard Payne University baseball team fell 11-4 in non-conference action to the University of St. Thomas Tuesday afternoon at Temple College's Danny Scott Sports Complex.

Despite only getting outhit 10-9 in the game, the Yellow Jackets allowed five unanswered St Thomas runs and trailed 5-0 after five innings.

Howard Payne got single runs in the sixth and seventh innings on a William Burford homerun and a Joey Villarreal RBI single.

HPU got two additional runs in the ninth on a 2 RBI single by Samuel Lampson to round out the scoring for the Jackets.

Luke Brock, Lampson, and Burford each finished 2-for-4 at the plate for HPU.

Cyah Daniel recorded the loss in the start for the Jackets allowing four runs on two hits in 1.1 innings of work. JT Howard Nick Diaz, Ty Garner, Gary Blair, and Kody Hasty each saw time in relief. Blair recorded the most time in his outing with 3.2 innings of action.

Howard Payne University will play next at home on Tuesday March 22nd in a single game versus non-conference opponent Southwestern University at 2:00 pm.
