Christy Williams-McKee of Blackwell, Texas, finished her career ranked in the top five in nine different categories in HPU women's basketball history. She still holds the school and American Southwest Conference record for most points scored in a game – 47 – against McMurry in 1996. She won the game in overtime on a last-second shot, despite having a concussion received from an elbow to the face earlier in the game. At the time of her graduation, Williams-McKee was the second all-time leading career scorer with 1,887 points and remained second in career rebounds with 940. She also was second for most field goals in a career, second for most free throws and second for most steals in a season. Her basketball honors include Texas Intercollegiate Athletic Association Freshman of the Year, conference Co-Most Valuable Player, all-conference for four seasons and All-American for two seasons. She also had her No. 34 jersey retired by HPU in 1997 following her senior season. Williams-McKee also was a track standout and was named to the all-conference team for three seasons. She also earned the TIAA’s Freshman Outstanding Athlete award along with two other Outstanding Athlete awards. As a freshman she placed in enough events to win the women's track team title all by herself.
