Tim Brasher was named the Texas Intercollegiate Athletic Association Men’s Tennis Player of the Year as a senior in 1994. Brasher would go on to coach the Howard Payne men’s and women’s tennis teams after graduation and earned TIAA Coach of the Year in his second season. As a player, Brasher helped lead the team to a TIAA championship in 1991 and NAIA and NCAA III national tournament appearances in 1991 and 1994. In three seasons, he received first- and second-team All-TIAA honors and was twice NAIA All-District. As a coach, he guided the women’s team to an American Southwest Conference championship and a NCAA III national tournament appearance in 1996. That same year, he was named women’s coach of the year. On the men’s side, Brasher led the Yellow Jackets to an ASC Championship in 1997 and to two appearances in the NCAA Division III national tournament. He was voted ASC men’s Coach of the Year in 1997. Brasher graduated from HPU in 1994 with a degree in exercise and sport science and is a small business owner in Brownwood.
