HPU Athletics Hall of Fame
Two-time All-American Meia Daniels was 109-12 over four seasons at HPU while leading the Lady Jackets to three American Southwest Conference championships, four NCAA Division III national tournament appearances and the NCAA Division III championship in 2008 on HPU’s 33-0 team. Daniels, a Fort Worth Fossil Ridge graduate, still holds numerous HPU and American Southwest Conference records and is second in career scoring with 2,118 points. She has seven school career, season and game records and five ASC records. In addition to being named All-American twice, she was National Player of the Year in 2008. She had multiple all-conference honors, was two-time ASC Tournament MVP, two-time Regional Player of the Year and two-time ASC Athlete of the Year. After graduation, Daniels spent two seasons as the women's basketball graduate assistant at Wayne State College in Wayne, Neb., with former HPU head coach Chris Kielsmeier. She helped guide the Wayne State program to a NSIC Conference Championship in 2010. She served as an assistant coach in 2012-13 for Howard Payne and became head coach in June 2013, compiling an 80-53 mark in five seasons for a .602 winning percentage. She coached several all-conference players and WBCA All-American Danyel Bradley. Daniels graduated from Howard Payne in 2008 with a degree in political science and criminal justice. She completed a Master of Science in organizational management from Wayne State in 2010.
