Dallas Huston served as the “Voice” of Howard Payne Yellow Jackets for 57 years. He retired in 2021 with a host of local and statewide accolades. He was named Sportscaster of the Year four times by the Lone Star Conference and was given a special award for service by the first HPU Athletics Hall of Fame committee. He also was presented with an honorary Doctor of Humanities degree by Howard Payne in 2008 and was inducted into the Big Country Athletic Hall of Fame in 2007. Huston also broadcast Brownwood Lions games for 58 years and was twice honored by the Texas High School Coaches Association. He was inducted into the Gordon Wood Hall of Champions in 2012. He was recognized as the first recipient of the Dallas Huston Christ in the Media Award by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and by the Boy Scouts of America Texas Trails Council as their 2015 Distinguished Citizen. He also has hosted Christian sports shows on Brownwood radio and led weekly men's Bible study and fellowship every week.
