Marshall Davis finished his career 10th on Howard Payne’s all-time men’s basketball scoring list with 1,402 points. He was named to the All-Lone Star Conference team three times and twice led HPU to a Lone Star Conference regular season championship. As a freshman, he was Second Team All-LSC and named LSC Freshman of the Year. Remembered for his reliability and consistency, Davis was a starter for his entire career and in four seasons never missed a game. He was named team captain for three different Yellow Jacket teams and, at the close of his HPU career, was the fourth-leading scorer in HPU men’s basketball history. Davis, a 1980 graduate of HPU from Austin, is a traffic control specialist. His older brother, Terry Davis, also is a member of the HPU Athletics Hall of Fame, inducted posthumously in 2023. Terry and Marshall Davis are one of five pairs of brothers in the hall of fame.
