Ernest Jenkins of Albuquerque was a two-year starter at point guard for the Yellow Jackets in the 1974-75 and 1975-76 seasons. As a senior, he led the Yellow Jackets to the Lone Star Conference Tournament Championship, the NAIA District 4 championship and an appearance in the NAIA National Tournament. He was named Most Valuable Player for the 1976 LSC Tournament, scoring 56 points in three games. His 17 points per game average also earned him All-NAIA District 4 honors. He was voted Second Team All-LSC in 1975 and 1976. Jenkins served as a mentor and house parent at the Brownwood State School after his graduation in 1977. He later went into business management and human resources, earning a master’s degree from Webster University in St. Louis. He worked as a human resources executive for a Fortune 300 company in Washington D.C. before returning to Albuquerque to open his own consulting business.
