William “Bill” David played tackle and center for Coach McAdoo Keaton’s successful conference teams in the early 1940s. David lettered in the 1940 and 1941 seasons. In addition to being an All-Texas Conference center, he was known for his punt-blocking on special teams. He was president of the student council and a member of the oratory society before graduating in 1941 with a degree in government and history. He became a prominent lawyer in Fort Worth with Tarrant County’s largest law firm, was Howard Payne “Man of the Year” in 1974 and president of the HPU Board of Trustees in 1995.
