Scott Lichner was one of the most successful quarterbacks in Howard Payne history, setting 17 school and eight conference records. The Fort Worth Brewer graduate had HPU’s most passing yards in a career (9,000); most passing attempts in a season (434); most plays in a game (71); and most plays in a career (1,409). He also has the career highest completion percentage of 56%; most yards per game in a season of 325.8; and most career yards per game of 218.3. Lichner set career records despite playing only four games as a junior and being hurt most of his senior year. As a freshman he was an All-American and First Team All-Texas Intercollegiate Athletic Association, Freshman of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year. He was again All-American as a sophomore, along with Offensive Player of the Year and First Team All-TIAA. As a senior, he was Offensive Player of the Year and First Team All-TIAA. Since graduating in 1995, he has spent most of his time working in the financial services industry in Colorado.
