Stacey Blalock was a member of HPU’s 2008 NCAA Division III championship team. The 6-foot-1 center started all 33 games and averaged 15.3 points, 5.1 rebounds and shot a team-leading .844 from the free throw line in the team’s undefeated championship run. In 2007, she was named to the American Southwest Conference First-Team All-West Division; ASC West Division Defensive Team; ASC Academic All-Conference; and D3hoops.com Third-Team All-South Region. In 2008, Blalock was named ASC All-Conference and West Division First Team; ASC West Division Defensive Player of the Year; ASC Academic All-Conference; ASC All-Tournament Team; and Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Honorable Mention All-American. Blalock is second on the HPU all-time list for blocked shots. In 2008, she received HPU’s prestigious Tami Pattillo Memorial Award given each year to an HPU female athlete who best represents the HPU spirit. Blalock, of Magnolia, graduated from HPU in 2008 with a degree in elementary education. She was head basketball coach at Montgomery High and later a special education teacher and assistant basketball coach at Cypress Creek High.
