Todd Howey was Howard Payne's head baseball coach from 1991-94 and led the Yellow Jackets to four consecutive NAIA District 8 playoff appearances and three Texas Intercollegiate Athletic Association championships in 1992, 1993 and 1994.The HPU graduate finished his career at Howard Payne with a 124-102 record and was named TIAA Coach of the Year three times. A former Texas Tech All-Southwest Conference outfielder and Philadelphia Phillies minor leaguer, Howey began his career in 1989 at Early High School coaching football, basketball, and baseball and a year later moved to HPU. In 1995, he was named baseball coach at West Texas A&M University in Canyon, with his teams nationally ranked four times. He then served as athletic director in Canyon, Midland, and San Antonio ISDs. He’s also published three books on teamwork, leadership and life perspective.
