Ken Gray of San Saba lettered four years in football at Howard Payne, was All-Lone Star Conference two years and All-Texas College and Little All-American one year. In 1958, he was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the National Football League’s sixth round before earning a spot with the Chicago Cardinals. He spent 12 years with Chicago/St. Louis before joining the Houston Oilers in 1970 for one year. Gray was a six-time Pro Bowl selection and was named to the NFL’s All-1960s team and the Cardinals’ All-Time team. After retiring as a player, he was head coach and athletic director at his high school alma mater, Llano High School, for three years. He was offensive line coach for the Denver Broncos when the team reached Super Bowl XII. Gray is a member of the NAIA Hall of Fame and in 2016, he was inducted into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame.
